Pettitte reject Yankees' offer, Pettitte won't be back?

I have a mixed feeling when I hear Pettitte reject Yankees' offer. I am certainly surprised Yankees and Pettitte get to this point.

My first reaction is Pettitte playing a Roger Clemens game which plays for a contender team for half of season at much higher salary. Since they have the same agent, it's very reasonable to wonder about this option. Many contenders usually need to add starters before trading deadline and are willing to pay more to get that in terms of cash and talents. Pettitte also can play a role of savior as well. If history tells us anything, Yankees probably need another starter around trading deadline. Of course, I hope they don't face that problem again. I remember Curt Schilling also considers this option as well. I understand it probably is a good idea for older pitchers to pitch only half of season, but I really don't like this idea. In my opinion, the games in April is as important as the games in September.

My second reaction is Pettitte and his agents probably want to know what kind of deals they can get by rejecting Yankees' offer because many teams probably assume Pettitte will sign with Yankees any way. When Mo and Posada are free agents last off-season, it seems they face the same problem as well. If they can get better deals, they probably can use as a leverage to make Yankees increase their offer. If they don't get better deals, I think they still can go back to Yankees and ask for that 10 million offer. Based on the amount of respect Pettitte get within organization and you never have enough pitching, I still think Yankees will be willing to take Pettitte back. Of course, this assumes Yankees haven't gotten another veteran starter at one year deal as no.4 starter.

I usually have difficult time to analyze things rationally when things involve with my beloved Yankees. Pettitte is on my list. I understand Yankees have other options on the market. I understand Pettitte doesn't have a good 2008 season. I understand Pettitte is not young anymore. I also understand it seems he loses some of his stuffs because of age. Not to mention the concern of injury.

But, I believe Pettitte will have a bound back 2009 season. I still love to have Pettitte back and watch him pitching more. When you look around how much money below league average pitchers get, Pettitte certainly is worthy for 12 million per. I wonder why Yankees draw such a hard line on Pettitte.

Pettitte may have a hard feeling about getting a pay cut which we don't like as well when Yankees spend so much money so far this off-season. Pettitte may feel he doesn't ask for multi-year contracts when he has that leverage or always takes the ball no matter whether he is healthy or not.

That being said, I will feel disappointed at Pettitte if Pettitte decides to sign with other team after Yankees up their offer to 12 million per. In the end, Salary should reflect performance no matter what kind of job you have. Not to mention Pettitte always say he doesn't care about money and only want to pitch for Yankees.

My take on Clemens public hearing

We all know who is going to lose this battle before even coming into that public hearing. It’s Clemens. Why? In Taiwan, an old saying goes, which side need to provide more evidences, which side is going to lose that trial. Why? The more evidences you have to provide, the more holes other side is going to find out.

No one is a winner in my opinion after this public hearing. Am I disappointed at this whole steroids issue? Yes. As I said earlier regard of this issue, What is the whole point of looking past? They should look forward and find out how to solve this problems which may occur among young athletes.

If Roger Clemens is innocent, there must be too many coincidences which lead to this conclusion or Clemens must have problems how to get along very well with his friends.

Who get the best reaction for this whole Clemens public hearing?
Jeter. Jeter said:”I realize I can’t hit a lot of homeruns long time ago” when he was asked has he ever wanted to use steroids or HGH? Ha! Our great captain. Priceless.

What is the most surprising part for whole Clemens public hearing?
In Australia, I can’t get any news related to this topic on TV at all. I guess baseball is really not popular at all here. Good news is Yankees just signed two Australian players recently. This may increase the population of Yankees fans or baseball fans one day.

What are they doing?

I don't know who is telling the truth and who is lying. I don't care. Actually, I for one who doesn't care much athletes take steroids as long as they play hard. You guys will know that if you guys read my opening post for this blog.

We all have this kind of experience when we are at school. When I was in university, some of my classmates cheated in exams in order to get higher score. Some of my friends were so angry at this kind of situations. Me? I don't care. Only thing I care is what and how I do in exams. If I study hard, I get high score eventually. The difference between those who cheated in exams and me is I got knowledge on my head, right?

This whole saga between Roger Clemens and Brian McNamee. I just have one feeling. What are they doing? Don't look into the past. The whole focus should be how to improve or fix this situation which more and more athletes take steroids. What are they doing? If Govnerment turn McNamee from suspect to witness, should they protect McNamee from exposures to the public? I don't try to protect McNamee. I just wonder at why powerful people on the society always do something which gets them on the page of newspaper, but not for something challenges the real bad guys on the society.

Basically, Mitchell just put McNamee on his report and let everyone know who is his source. Mitchell should just try to come up with good idea how to change this situation instead of putting tons of athletes names on his report. Ridiculous.

Jeter and Pettitte are the man

Do you guys remember the story I mention the last post?I said Yankees need someone to help them and Clemens maybe the answer.I think I find the anwer.Some guys always do some magic things and make you believe.That's the feeling I had when I was watching the last Red Sox and Yankees game.They are amazing.Pettitte is a big game pitcher.He make you so relax and believe he will pitch great game.Jeter is the guy you want him on the plate and he always delivery.Hopefully,this series is turning point of this season.But,we still have Angel,Blue Jays,Boston,White Sox next.This is the tough stretch.

am I lazy???

You guys probably wonder what I am doing these few days.Nothing but watching every yankees games.Am I lazy???Is it the reason for luck of posting these few days.No.

In reality,for human beings,it's so hard to keep faith and fighting when things go all wrong in their life.It's so easy to say "Keep fighting" but hard to keep fighting.Baseball players are human beings too.Right now,this is kind of life for yankees players now.They need hero.They need someone to help them.In my opinion,Clemens may be the answer.The reason for that is not because of pitching.They just need a break which Clemens' present in the club may help or Red Sox lose some games in a row soon.

True story from me.I was so frustrated at getting a job when I just graducated from film school in California.I want to stay in the United States,work there and make my film.I kept fighting for half year after I graducated from school.All the answer from my job interviews was "We really want to hire you but you have to get a working visa by yourself first".In reality,I have to find a job first and get my working visa from my boss as foreign workers.I kept fighting that everyday for half year.The last month of that life,I didn't want to check my email or answer the phone.I couldn't do anything with energy because of frustration.Why I didn't want to check my emails?I didn't want to get more emails about the same message which I got again and again.When frustration get to you,they kill you.

Edit:How I feel about Wang's performance?Man,I couldn't breathe on the second inning.I couldn't believe Wang throw a slider on 3-2 to strike out Kevin Youkilis with base full to end the inning when Big Papi on deck.I am so glad that Wang did help my Yankees team to win.Sometimes,It's so hard for me to watch Wang pitching as Taiwanese Yankees fan.You guys maybe couldn't image this.For most Taiwanese,Wang presents our whole country and He makes us proud.Wang pitch with whole country watching now,including more and more people in china,Hong Kong.
