7:35pm Well. I keep waiting and waiting for game and then I fall sleep. When I wake up, I miss first inning and then turn on my computer on time to catch Wang gives up a homerun to Lowell.
7:43pm It looks like Wang makes adjustment on his delivery after letting pitches high in the zone for the first two batters of second inning.
7:49pm That is why we sign Teixeira, right? After watching the way Juan Miranda play defense, I am glad to know Teixeira play first base for us.
7:55pm After the game CC get hit hard, Wang get hit hard by Red Sox as well. This certainly gets many people panic and many experts to claim Yankees are in trouble.
7:57pm It looks like Wang can't find his right delivery. As long as he is healthy, I rather them to get hit hard in spring training and then they can realize their problems. Spring training doesn't count. It's good time to find out their problems.
8:03pm That is why I always say defense is very important. If Teixeira is on first base tonight, Wang will be out of second inning while he only gives up one run. I don't care how official scorer think because spring training doesn't count. Those 6 runs are for Juan Miranda.
However, I am glad Wang faces this tough situation in spring training. It seems to me Wang still struggles with command off his pitches. In the past, we won't see Wang misses location of his pitches time and time again this badly. It looks like Wang has good movement on his sinker, but he hasn't had command yet. And then he leaves all kind of breaking pitches high in the zone.
Wang should be the last guy in the rotation get into game shape. We should not expect him to be ready too soon. Don't forget Wang miss half of 2008 season and hasn't pitched for a long time.
8:18pm It's funny Yankees play long game with Red Sox even though they are in the spring training.
8:28pm Tomko looks good and should be leading candidate on long man in the bullpen.
8:31pm I don't care the result of spring training, but I really hope Yankees somehow hammer Papelbon. Well, it's not happening.
8:44pm I am interested in watching Saito pitching. Saito has a very similar delivery to Dice-K.
9:08pm I am listening to the game right now instead of watching the game because of the price of internet in Australia. It looks like Igawa gets more chances now. We certainly need to give him every chance to succeed.

Two questions...
*Does Joe Girardi become Yankees' version of Willie Randolph? More and more people believe Yankees are not playing hard for Joe Girardi. I don't think so. People make mistakes. I believe veterans on Yankees team are better than that. On top of that, Joe Girardi got hired this past off-season and signed a three-year contract.
*Are we going to see Carl Pavano pitching for us again? It seems thing goes to that direction. I don't care how much money he makes. I don't care how "unlucky" he has been. I know not only we need a starter but also Pavano' rehab period is going to end. Please. Can we see someone else pitching for us instead of Pavano? On top of that, Pavano hasn't pitched above AA. If Hughes isn't ready, there must be someone else for that. I rather watch Kei Igawa pitching.

talk about ugly game
It's amazing how I can stay watching this whole Igawa's game when you consider how sick I have been this whole week. I have to admit I give Igawa up when I saw the way he pitch. Would Yankees please let anyone else pitch at Igawa's next turn against Ray? Anyone? How worse that person can be than him? It kills me watching him on the mound.
Can Yankees stop letting every opponent pitcher look like Cy Young, especially when you consider how bad Tigers' pitching staff have been? On top of that, both teams play some ugly defense all night as well.
Updated: I am glad I keep watching the whole game and didn't give up even though we didn't come from behind, but at least we let Tigers sweat in the 9th inning. Man, When I saw Shelley Duncan line out, I miss A-Rod at that spot. It also seems Cano warm up little by little which is good news for us. On top of that, We also got great performance from our bullpen again, but the bad news is Albaladejo is hurt. Can we please close the gate toward to DL party?
P.S. If you ask my opinion, I rather have Gonzalez than Betemit. I am always the one pay more attention on defense and pitching than offense, especially when you consider Betemit can't hit well as a right-handed hitter.

Does Joe Girardi try to send soft messages out?
I don't think too many people can move their eyes away from our new manager Joe Girardi. A lot of news, reports and columns already flood in. The most analysis is all about how the tough, hardworking, organized guy Joe Girardi is. As far as I am concerned, I like what I saw so far from Girardi. Posada even said to reporters he expect Girardi will be tougher and more critical of them than Joe Torre.
Front get-go, first sentence for his first interview on the first workout of Spring training. Joe Girardi said:"This things I prepared for months and bomb here it's...". You can tell from his answers to every reporters' questions. He was well prepared for every words came out his mouth. Every questions is regarding for Joba's position as a setup man or a starting pitcher. He never change his answer. One time he even correct himself and rearrange few words he says about Joba.
In addition, Girardi not only mentions couple of reporters' names during the whole interview but also cracks up few jobs along the way.
Couple of things I saw so far from Girardi are great. I don't know he does them by nature or by design, but I like them. He makes sure to answer questions as short as he can. I believe the less he says, the less mistakes he makes and the less stories reporters or talk show hosts can write or talk about. He also said his message to players is simple: "healthy and care about him"
The most impressive thing he has done is sending some soft messages out to players.
First of all, He brings all three kids to camp with him. He and his wife are playing with them on the field after workout every day. His kids wrote some words down and drew some pictures on the board. They said:"We love you, dad. You are the best".
Secondly, The first thing he told to all pitchers was not trying too hard now. Take it easy and tell them you can't make the team in two days. He understand players are eager to impress people, but it's easy for them to get hurt when their arm strength is not there yet.
Thirdly, He not only spent 30 minutes with Kei Igawa in order to understand him more but also said the most impressive thing he saw from Kyle is his easy emotion without talking to him because he felt Kyle is relax and was not trying to impress him at his first bullpen of Spring training.
So, What's my conclusion? Joe Girardi understands players. If we have a injury free season, we are going to have a great season ahead without questions.
