Yankees sign Marte for 3 years with one year club option

See, I told you guys to relax and not to jump on Cashman right away. One good thing for Cashman is he is very honest. 3 years for 12 million is a good deal which is below market. Not to mention Marte is more than a lefty specialist and Yankees don't have a good lefty in the bullpen for long long time. 4 years is a little bit longer than I thought, but it doesn't matter because 4th year is a club option. Yankees can turn that down easily.

Good start for Yankees this important off-season.

I wasn't impressed with Marte. As a set-up/lefty specialist, he might thrive. I don't understand how he could have been a closer, way too inconsistent. He and Bruney will be a formidable left/righty bridge to Mariano. I wish Chamerblain would remain in a relief role, to solidify the back end, and shorten games for us. Kudos to you for being on top of this story, and Cashman's mind-set. i didn't foresee such a long contract.

Fortunately for us, we have Mo, so we don't have to worry about how he handle with closer role. I can't image the day we don't have Mo.

Based on the interview Joe Girardi did with WFAN few days ago, I think the role Joba will be depended on how Yankees sign starting pitchers this off-sesaon. If we get enough starting pitchers, Joba may move back to bullpen.

That being said, I have faith in how Girardi handle with bullpen even if he doesn't have Joba in the bullpen.

It's much easier to get someone to pitch well in one inning than 6 or 7 innings. we have a lot of young talent pitchers on the minor league. We may get another Joba soon.

Let me assure we add CC and A.J Burnett to go with Wang, Pettitte and Joba as no.5 starter. There are potential 950 innings among our big 5 if they all stay healthy. We may not need bullpen that much.

Let Joba pitch his 150 innings with Hughes for spot starts and see what they can do.

We know Joba can handle Closer role if we need him in that role in the future. However, Mo is still Mo. Worry about that when we get there.

Hopefully Mo will come back in mid-season form, and not have any set backs. If he an Posada are not healthy right away, we will be in serious trouble. Regardless of the free agents we get. Coming back, and regaining your skills after surgery is not a given. Just ask me! lol.. Hank has stated Joba will start. I hope Mo comes back as Mo.

That's is so true. I concern about the healthy status of Joba, Mo, Posada and Wang. We need them all healthy next season.

Are you hurt? Do you get a surgery? Are you ok?

I just got into a car accident about 3 weeks ago, and I've broken my ankle playing football, and separated my shoulder playing baseball in high school. (I have videos of a couple of at bats, me and my teammates playing baseball on my facebook page, if you wanted to witness some americans in high school and a few at bats. ) So I know what surgery is like, and how rehab and recovery doesn't always go as planned. I've still got pain in a shoulder thats been twice operated on. And I'm an outfielder not a pitcher! lol.. so i know minor reconstructive/repair surgeries. Lets just hope that Mo & Po combo gets back 100% on opening day. If you'll recall last season, POsada exacerbated with situation by trying to play

I know it's not easy. I wish you best. I went to your facebook and saw those clips. I don't know that's you.

Even though I don't have the experience you have, my older sister broke her leg few years ago and I know how hard for her to recover.

That's why I the main concern I have for this off-season is not free agent signing, it's the Wang, Joba, Posada and Mo can recover completely.

I was the bigger of the two black kids on the team. The one without the braids. This bullpen might add aceves, and coke. I hope edwar ramirez, and jose veras bounce back and have good years. Maybe they hit a wall later in the season due to inexperience. But either way, they were dreadful down the stretch

They are not consistent for sure. We have a lot of options in the bullpen. Someone will step up for sure. Not to mention we have more from the minor. Our bullpen is in great shape. It's amazing turnaround for our bullpen.
